Free Bus Travel

Young people aged between 5 and 21 years old in Scotland are able to access free bus travel. They will need to apply for a National Entitlement Card (card) or a Young Scot National Entitlement Card (card) with the free bus travel product on it. Cardholders will be able to travel for free on registered bus services across Scotland including a very limited number of local cross-border services from the south of Scotland into northern England.

Children under 5 years old can already travel on buses for free. They will not need to apply for a card.

We are hoping to be able to go on school excursions soon, so we ask that you please apply for a pass as soon as possible. You can easily apply for your child’s NEC card online here.
